The New Nurse Support Network (NNSN) is an Institutional Review Board (IRB)–approved research study technically administered by Robert Sessions (dba Preston Informatics Co.) conducted by a research team.from the Towson University, College of Health Professions.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and protected in connection with participation in the NNSN research study, including the use of SMS (text) messaging.
As part of participation in the NNSN SMS messaging program, the following information may be collected:
A participant’s mobile phone number, provided voluntarily during enrollment
Text message delivery metadata (SMS/MMS), such as timestamps and delivery status
Anonymous Participant ID linked to the mobile phone number, there is no tie to any other PII about the participant.
Text messages sent as part of the study do not request sensitive personal information and do not contain marketing or commercial content.
Information collected through text messaging and the study website is used solely to:
Communicate with consented participants about study activities
Send scheduled research-related reminders and resources
Operational metadata of logging and tracking of message activities
Mobile phone numbers and messaging metadata are used solely for research study communication and operational purposes and are never sold, rented, or shared for marketing or commercial use. No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Text messages are delivered using a third-party communications service provider acting solely on behalf of the research study. SMS messages are delivered using a third-party communications service provider. This provider has access to your mobile number only for the purpose of delivering authorized research messages on behalf of NNSN. They are contractually prohibited from using participant information for their own purposes or sharing it with unauthorized parties.
All messaging content is a predefined, IRB-approved component of the research study.
All participants provide documented informed consent prior to enrollment. Consent explicitly includes permission to share a mobile phone number and to receive study-related text messages.

Participation is voluntary. Participants may withdraw from the study or opt out of SMS messaging at any time without penalty.
Participants may stop receiving messages (SMS/MMS) at any time by:
Replying STOP to any study text message
Using the unsubscribe option available on the participant website
Contacting the study team directly using the information below:
Participant may also email nnsn_support@prestoninformatics.com and request to stop or opt out of the text messaging program.
Participants may request assistance at any time by replying HELP to a study message.
Participant information is handled in accordance with applicable university, research, State and Federal policies and data protection standards. Reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards are used to protect participant confidentiality.
Research data is retained only as required by institutional, regulatory, and research oversight requirements.
